Buffalo- The RailRiders take a 3-2 series lead with a big 7-3 win. Wes Parsons allowed 3 runs over 4.2IP with 5K. Zach Pop entered the game in the 5th inning with the bases loaded and two outs. He walked the first batter he faced and surrendered a grand slam to the next batter. So not a good outing for those thinking Pop is the answer to the bullpen in Toronto. Jay Jackson allowed two runs, pushing his ERA to 6.65. Also not a good sign for those thinking he would be a piece of the bullpen puzzle. Brandon Eisert struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 8th inning. Spencer Horwitz picked up 3 hits and a walk while Davis Schneider popped his 15th home run.

New Hampshire- The Patriots scored single runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th inning to take the lead and win 3-1. Damiano Palmegiani and Rainer Nunez each had 2-hit games, accounting for all the Fisher Cats’ hits. Adam Kloffenstein allowed one run over 5.1 innings with 8K and 2BB. Connor Cooke took the loss, allowing one run on 4 hits with 3K and 1BB over 1.2IP. Andrew Bash allowed a run on 2 hits.

Vancouver- The Canadians scored 4 runs on 11 hits while holding the Emeralds to a run on 5 hits. Dahian Santos struck out 6 batters over 4.0 scoreless innings. Ryan Boyer dominated, striking out 5 of the 7 batters he faced over 2 scoreless innings. Kevin Miranda allowed a run on 3 hits with 2K over 2IP. Matt Svanson earned his 4th save with a 1-2-3 9th. Alan Roden, Dasan Brown, and Cade Doughty each had 2-hit games. Josh Kasevich landed the first blow with a 2-run single in the 4th inning. Cade Doughty added to the lead with an RBI single in the 5th. Gabriel Martinez grounded out in the 7th, pushing Michael Turconi across for a 4-0 lead.

Dunedin- The D-Jays fell to the Threshers for a 3rd straight game, 5 to 2. Walks were Eliander Alcalde‘s downfall on Saturday. Eliander walked 5 batters, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. Harry Rutkowski (0.2IP), Joey Murray (1.2IP), Brody Rodning (1.0IP), and Anders Tolhurst (1.1IP) pitched a combined 5 scoreless innings. Davis Feldman struggled in the 8th, allowing two runs but returned for a scoreless 9th. Manuel Beltre and Roque Salinas both had 2-hit games. Tucker Toman and Angel Del Rosario drove in the D-Jays’ only runs.

Player Spotlight

Today we turn our attention to Manuel Beltre and Enmanuel Bonilla.

Beltre was signed for $2.35M as a 16-year-old in 2021. He has a good eye at the plate which allowed him to have professional at-bats and get on base at such a young age. His power is still a projection hit tool at this point but he’s already shown some pop. He looks good in the field and should remain in the middle of the diamond as he’s shown sure hands with an accurate arm with average arm strength.

Enmanuel Bonilla received a whopping $4.1M this signing season. Elite is often a word used to describe Bonilla on the field. He was Baseball America’s No. 4 IFA prospect. Baseball America praises Enmanuel for his bat speed and how well he impacts the ball. They project a 25-plus HR bat. In the field, Bonilla uses his good speed and strong arm to make a case for playing CF long-term but RF is likely where he’ll end up.

Beltre plays for the Dunedin Blue Jays. On Saturday, Manuel played 2nd base and batted 2nd. He collected two doubles and struck out in four at-bats. Beltre is struggling to hit consistently in the opening months with a .230BA in May and .203 in June; however, he’s shown excellent extra-base power with 7 doubles in June. Despite the low BA, Manuel hasn’t been overmatched, walking 13 times and striking out 18 times in June. For the season, the 19-year-old owns a .246/.357/.371 slash with 12 doubles, 3HR, 24RBI, 25BB, 41K, and 6SB.

June 11th home run

Enmanuel Bonilla is playing with the DSL Blue Jays. He was in CF and batting 2nd on Saturday. Bonilla went 1-for-3 with a single. He has hits in 7 straight games. He’s reached base in 13 straight, all but his professional debut. Leading up to yesterday’s game, Bonilla had 2-hits in 4 straight games. He is batting .269 with a .387OBP and .346SLG. He’s collected two doubles, a triple, and three stolen bases. He’s still waiting on his first professional home run but he’s driven in two runs while walking 7 times and striking out 15 times as a 17-year-old.
